The Hunters Car Club was established in 1961 in Santa Ana, California. As the home of the first drag strip in the country, Santa Ana was already on the car culture map. Hunters, like most car clubs, was very active in "Club Car" drag racing, campaigning three historically significant race cars. The MagWinder, originally driven by Jack Chrisman, was later raced under the Hunters Car Club banner. It now resides in the Don Garlits museum. The bright orange "7-11" 34 coupe was very well known in local drag racing but disappeared into history as most race cars from the era. It was later recreated and raced in the Nostalgia Reunion Drag Racing Series. The flathead rear engine dragster pictured above was originally built by Gene Mooneyham. It was a classic group effort of car club racing. The car quickly fell behind the major advancements in racing during the 1960's and also disappeared into history. Life and world events in the turbulent year of 1969 led to the clubs end.

The Club's return 55 years later as a social media platform is designed to memorialize the 1960's heritage era of car club drag racing and encourage future generations of drag racers.
